Adoption Story

I was born in South Korea in May, 1987 and I came to Minnesota in October the same year.  My paperwork says my parents met through work and were separated before my birth mom found she was pregnant with me.  She choose to make an adoption plan in hopes that I could have a loving and happy family.  My parents choose adoption and have always been very open with me.  The agency in Minnesota is Children’s Home Society and they have great post-adoption services.  I’ve been working with them as a child, teen and now as an adult and have had a wonderful experience.

My experiences I write about are just that, experiences that are mine alone.  I’ve noticed that adoptees tend to have similar feelings but we all have different stories and paths that will take us to our destinations.  Please don’t apply my story and assume that all adoptees have a happy ending following a search or that all want or are ready to search for their backgrounds.  Searching for my birth family was a difficult time for me and I hope that I may be able to help someone else by documenting my story.
